This is an E61 group gasket, made from food-safe silicone - 8mm version

This 8mm version suits E61 machines under 2 years old - if older, you may be interested in the 8.5mm version; otherwise, the portafilter may be a little difficult to get on. 

Made from soft and heat-resistant silicone, which lasts longer than rubber gaskets.

The internal grooves and soft consistency make for easy installation and removal, and the light colour helps to detect if there is a build-up of coffee debris

  • If you notice that there's water leaking from the area above the portafilter, known as the group head, then your gasket is probably to blame.
  • When you change your coffee crema will improve as you will have achieved the maximum extraction pressure of 9 bars. (The pressure will be constant as the filter basket has a full seal.)
